Randy Newman en vinyle et en volumes

Une intégrale vinyle et un troisième (et dernier ?) volume du Songbook de Randy Newman en septembre.

« Ce projet, c’est comme La folle histoire du monde (1ère partie) de Mel Brooks. Il n’y a jamais eu de deuxième ni de troisième partie ! », nous expliquait Randy Newman en juillet 2003 à l’occasion de la sortie du premier volet de Songbook, recueil de relectures en piano solo de son répertoire stellaire. Le temps a donné tort à l’auteur de « You Can Leave Your Hat On » et « I Love L.A. » : le 23 septembre, le label Nonesuch publiera le simultanément le coffret vinyle en tirage limité The Randy Newman Songbook, un quadruple LP réunissant les deux volets parus en 2003 et 2011 ainsi qu’un troisième volume de 16 titres comprenant quelques-uns des greatest hits du songwriter acide, dont « Short People », « You’ve Got a Friend in Me » et « Mama Told Me Not To Come ». À noter que Songbook Vol. 3 sera également disponible en version CD individuelle (tracklistings ci-dessous).
